Husband and wife, Dana and Melanie Harvey are the design team behind HARVEYS. Dana learned to sew at a young age in his homeland of New Zealand. He grew up literally "in" the industry. His mother worked as a seamstress in a factory that had daycare for young Dana. His earliest memories are of buzzing sewing machines and clanking scissors. Later Dana would go on to sew his own clothes and soon he was creating custom pieces for friends.

Melanie was born and raised in sunny California amongst Barbie dolls, plastic food and bubblegum-pink bedroom walls. This instilled in her a sense of style she describes as "girly-girl". Unable to find things in the common market place to satisfy her girly appetite she looked to secondhand stores and flea markets. She would find things then alter them to create something uniquely her own style.

The Harveys first met at a Halloween Party. Melanie was dressed as a 17th century European woman in full Rococo splendor and Dana was dressed as a 1930's Gangster. Ironically their costumes revealed a lot about themselves and the attraction was instant. A year later to the day they were married. Of course Dana sewed Melanie's wedding dress, which, you guessed it, was extremely "girly-girl".

The union of their talents spawned a desire to fill a void in the market place of all things pink and girly. Hence, HARVEYS was born.
